Pumpkin Spice Simple Syrup

glass bottle with latching style lid atop an orange cloth surrounded by leaves, whole spices, and a winter squash

Makes approximately 2 cups syrup

Ingredients:

1 cup water

1/4 cup pumpkin purée

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spice

Stir all ingredients together in a saucepan. Heat over medium stirring until sugar fully dissolves; do not allow mixture to boil to prevent caramelization of the sugars. Remove from heat and let cool completely. Double strain through a sieve to remove large pieces of pulp. Label and store in the refrigerator in an air tight container. Shake before use. Because this syrup contains pumpkin, shelf life will cap out around 1 week; check for signs of spoilage before each use.
